2D Artist
Job Description:
We are looking for an amazing 2D Artist and/or Illustrator who can contribute to the development of amazing games to join our team! As an outsourcing company RedCerberus helps a number of teams developing games ranging all genres. In the position of 2D artist you’ll be responsible for the creation of high quality 2D Art Assets, concepts and key arts in accordance with the projects’s art direction/guidelines. You will have to be flexible and quickly adapt to different art styles. You will also work alongside art directors, producers and different teams to explore and iterate on the visual style of a project. An ideal candidate for this position must be organized, creative and well versed in standard industry tools and will also show a diverse portfolio of recent work that displays pieces with a lot of personality and high level of ability in composition, concepting, character design and overall 2D Illustration. You enjoy working as part of a team but also have a proactive approach to tackling challenges on an individual level.
This is a remote position.
2D Artist Responsibilities:
1. Create 2D Assets for games such as textures and props.
2. Work alongside the programmers, producers, directors and different teams to iterate on the visual art style of a project.
3. Create concepts and designs for multiple projects. This includes characters, environments, props and studies for visual effects, style, mood boards and helping define the projects’ look.
4. Work alongside the broader art team to brainstorm ideas in order to deliver concepts and work with the 3D team to ensure directional alignment from concept to final asset.
5. Testing and fixing your work based on feedback provided by leadership/supervisors and/or art directors.
6. Proactively communicate and coordinate tasks with the team members before and after you in the content production pipeline.
7. Work with other departments to anticipate and solve/mitigate technical challenges within given constraints and visual requirements.
8. Help find visual solutions that adhere to the art direction, gameplay and technical aspects of a game.
Requirements:
As a person, you are a natural troubleshooter with an analytical mindset. You possess good communication skills, with willingness to take initiative and can adapt to different people and changes. You take pride in delivering top quality. We are looking for someone who has experience working with concept art, character design and overall illustration to help produce art-ready assets for games that reach a wide audience. We are looking for someone who has a strong portfolio that demonstrates the skills needed for this position as well as sense of visual style. This ideal person can adapt to different art styles and guidelines provided by art directors and can clearly communicate on task deliveries and organization skills.
1. Previous experience as a 2D Artist in with a strong portfolio showcasing a wide range of art that also demonstrates a solid understanding of composition, posing, rendering, color theory and perspective with focus on polished execution.
2. Been a part of game production pipeline and knows how to clearly communicate/coordinate tasks with those around you.
3. Knowledge on industry standard tools such as Photoshop or similar tools.
4. Strong ability to research and reference material that supports new ideas and problem-solving.
5. Strong interest in game development and curiosity for the games industry.
6. Ability to quickly sketch and concept ideas that can be further discussed with the broader art team.
7. Excellent skills in multitasking, organizing, communication and team collaboration.
8. Intermediate/Advanced English
Plus: A good background in 3D modeling with knowledge on softwares such as Maya, 3DMax, Blender or similar
